🙏 FAITH, HOPE & STRENGTH SUNDAY
💪 WHO HELPS THE ONE EVERYONE DEPENDS ON?
For many first-generation immigrants, being “the strong one” becomes part of life.
Maybe you’re the person everyone calls when:
💰 There’s a financial problem.
📄 Something needs to be figured out.
👨👩👧 Family needs help.
💼 Someone needs career advice.
❤️ Someone needs encouragement.
🚨 Something goes wrong.
You’ve become the dependable one.
The problem-solver.
The provider.
The person who says:
“I’ve got it.”
But there’s one question people may rarely ask:
“How are YOU doing?”
For many of us, strength became necessary long before it became a choice.
We learned to keep going.
To figure things out.
To help our families.
To survive difficult seasons.
And those experiences can build incredible resilience.
But sometimes being “the strong one” becomes its own burden.
🎒 WHEN “I’VE GOT IT” BECOMES TOO HEAVY
You may find yourself:
😓 Never admitting you’re tired.
🤐 Keeping struggles to yourself.
🙅 Refusing help because you’re supposed to be the helper.
😔 Feeling guilty when you need rest.
🧱 Believing vulnerability means weakness.
But even Jesus, during an incredibly difficult moment, asked those closest to Him to stay nearby.
📖 Matthew 26:38 (NKJV)
“My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.”
Needing support doesn’t cancel your strength.
Sometimes strength is having the courage to say:
“I need someone beside me.”
❤️ YOU GIVE SUPPORT TO EVERYONE ELSE. LET YOURSELF RECEIVE IT TOO.
1️⃣ Someone who listens
Not every problem needs your solution.
Sometimes you need someone who simply listens.
📖 “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
— Galatians 6:2
2️⃣ Someone you can ask for help
Receiving help doesn’t make you less independent.
Community means sometimes you carry others—and sometimes they carry you.
📖 “Two are better than one… For if they fall, one will lift up his companion.”
— Ecclesiastes 4:9–10
3️⃣ Somewhere to surrender what you cannot fix
Some problems belong in God’s hands—not permanently on your shoulders.
📖 “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”
— 1 Peter 5:7
You were never meant to be everyone’s answer. God is still yours.
🕊️ THIS WEEK, PUT SOMETHING DOWN
Instead of automatically saying “I’ve got it,” maybe it’s time to say:
💬 “Can I talk to you?”
🤝 “Could you help me with this?”
🙏 “Please pray for me.”
😴 “I need some rest.”
❤️ “God, I can’t carry this by myself.”
Your family may depend on you.
Your coworkers may depend on you.
Others may look to you for answers.
But your value isn’t measured by how much weight you can carry without anyone noticing.
📖 Matthew 11:28 (NKJV)
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
You can be dependable without carrying everything alone.
🙏 SUNDAY PRAYER
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for giving us strength to serve, provide, persevere, and care for the people we love.
But when being “the strong one” becomes heavy, remind us that we don’t have to carry everything alone.
Give us humility to ask for help, courage to be honest when we’re struggling, wisdom to establish healthy boundaries, and people we can trust.
Help us release to You the burdens we were never meant to carry.
And when we’re tired, remind us that we don’t always have to be the strong one.
You are our strength.
In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🙏
